Being hippies with carbon footprint guilt, we tend to stay close to home but in June 2014 we were invited to spend the shortest night at Marekov Dvor in the Tartres Mountains, Slovakia.

To reduce the load we transported just the larch ridge piece, the oak centre uprights and the canvas

We made use of the plentiful silver birch to strip and shape a set of new outer poles

It was an honour to take our tent to the mountains and have the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and experience Slovakian culture

And we got to build a stage for the delightful Vodopad (Slovakian for waterfall – nice)
